The Barcelona board behaved really unprofessional during the Messi drama. Though Messi has some blame and he was somewhat connected to the leak of his leaving the club.
The board president prolly thought by creating the drama he would secure his next term.
Messi also lost some respect by not sticking to his determination to leave the club. He probably should have thought this through before coming to this decision as his excuse was he won't leave right now because of his family.
