Is virtual reality gaming dead?
#1
Are the virtual reality set to expensive to support the games?  Are there any really good games that people have to play?  Is a new fad already on the way?

I think Phasmophobia and Half-Life can make VR worth it.

i would say its not dead. however i would say that for now the prices are far to high for what you get. hopelly there are some big breakthroughs in the near future that make vr more effordable and easy to set up

I honestly just cant see myself investing in it until the tech makes another leap

#5
Isn't vr chat and porn quite popular?

#6
It’s more of a niche but its still around slowly joining peoples homes

#7
Absolutely not. It is a niche, and for some specific groups, but as more and more good games are developed for it, the more it will grow. The latest Half-Life is the best example so far that probably sold a lot of VR glasses, and the more it sells, the more it will sell.

To a limit, of course, I don`t think it will ever replace regular gaming. Is just too expensive/troublesome to do so, at least in the foreseeable future.

I feel like current gamers right now just don't want to bother having to switch up how they play, but the newer generation will definitely be looking at it as their main gaming station imho

Aint dead. Got a lot of good games i play on my VR, although most games are Early access and very few are created by big studios. Very few that have been released so far from bigger studios anyway.

Something to keep in mind though is that a lot of devs have looked at VR an many created something/are developing VR games to compete in that market.

But with that said VR games are definitely in its infancy, when i bought my first VR game it was all shitty graphics with optimization down the drain and wild hack and slash and clipping through everything. Now many games have full physics support, run at the capped framerate for me and decent, if not good, graphics. So I think we will see a lot of improvement in the VR section the upcoming years. Hope it isnt dead. Have the quest 2 coming in next week.

I feel that games still don't take advantage of the technology's potential, except HL Alyx (and a few others). But I believe that in the future VR will become a standard instead of a niche.

The tech is very impressive yet still so early in it's achievable technology so we should wait for it to improve

#13
Anyone got any opinions on the quest 2? Thinking about grabbing it when it comes out

@definitelynotlo
depends on whether or not you have something you wanted to try out with VR

pistol whip and beat saber are probably the only games I truly enjoyed for the VR itself
