Anyone have recommendations on must-play city-building/colony sim type games? I'm a big fan of the genre and wanted to see what else I should check out.

Cities: Skylines - for me it's much better than Simcity.

cities skylines, lots of extensions and mods but it still is a nice game even though its already quite old now

Cities skylines is quite good but i hate how some essential city builder content is dlc. Such as mass transit.

If you dont like cities skylines then I reccomend sim city 4. You can get it on sale for 5 dollars and its probs the best sim city.

Yep, sim city 4 is actually a really good game if you want to try sandbox City building
