Censorship in Japan

Hi folks,

i am no expert in Japanese culture but i would like to present another pov for this cache.

Firstly social acceptance is a very big part of the Japanese culture therefor it is crucial for the most people to be a good member of the society. Society meaning in the overall "Japanese culture" as well in the smaller parts like the family or school class etc. There is a Term for losing this acceptance which can be translated in "one losing his/her face". I don't now whether this comes from the practice that no one would be looking in the face of this person or that the mentioned person is permanently looking down from shame. not looking

Secondly sexual acts are in the most culture a private matter. I think in japan one can do "everything" as long as it stays private and and when it comes out one is risking his/her social acceptance.

Therefore i think that censoring in Japanese porn is is partly a form of "protecting" the "face" of the actors and actresses. No porn watcher sees the whole nude body of this people so ones sexual privacy is not fully exposed to the "observing public". To be honest i do not know how well the Japanese public is to people in this kind of industries. In the most cultures i know off there is some shame and blaming involved when such people are reported on. On the other hand the Japanese celebrate annually  Kanamara Matsuri "The Penis festival" with giant penises on festival floats. So i am not sure how they handle porn actors and actresses in the public. Big Grin
