Would you say rap is still the most popular genre in the U.S., or was it actually ever?

It's likely got the numbers to argue for most popular atm, but it would wildly depend on wherever you live, people you associate with, etc, on a smaller scale. Also it feels difficult to say since the line between rap and pop is really blurry these days. I wouldn't say it used to be though. What do you think?
